Through the Industry Skills Training Programme, Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) are giving 5,000 work opportunities, mostly to residents on the East Coast of the peninsula (PLKI-ECRL).

Zaidi Sharif, the director of MRL’s Strategies Division, stated that 500 people out of a total of 1,800 had participated in the first phase of the program, which began in 2018 and included the construction phase.

He said the program provided a variety of training options, including skills training in areas such as operating heavy machinery, electrical and surveying, and so on, in addition to the construction field.

“During their first month of training, the trainees will be dispatched to East Coast skill development centers, and during their second month, they will get hands-on trainings at ECRL construction sites.”
